About First Steps Crèche & Preschool
First Steps Crèche is proud to offer a safe, nurturing environment for children aged from 6 months to 6 years, with a team of 37 dedicated staff committed to providing high-quality care and education. Our Crèche consists of five rooms—the Senior Preschool, Junior Preschool, Toddler Room, Wobbler Room, and Baby Room—each designed to provide tailored learning experiences for children at different stages of development.
Over the past few years, we’ve invested significantly in improving our facilities. Our outdoor areas have undergone a complete makeover, with the addition of three beautiful gardens—the Senior Garden, Junior Garden, and a Sensory Garden. These spaces are filled with engaging activities like a trampoline and sensory equipment, providing children with a wide range of play and learning opportunities.
In addition to our facilities, we are also incredibly proud of our team. From our experienced room leaders to the new faces who bring fresh ideas and energy, our staff are dedicated to supporting each child’s individual needs. The longevity of our staff is a testament to the positive work environment we foster, and we’re excited to see long-time staff members now welcoming the children of previous generations!
Our community connections remain a cornerstone of our philosophy. First Steps Crèche has built strong relationships with local organizations such as Barnardos, St. Saviours, and others. We value the opportunity to welcome visitors from the community to engage with the children, whether it’s through visits from the Community Gardaí, Fire Brigade, or local libraries and services.
We’re also proud of the awards and recognition we’ve received, such as the Child and Youth Participation Award from Túsla, recognizing our commitment to ensuring that the children at First Steps have a voice. Our programs—such as our menu review, First Aid training, and child-led initiatives—are just a few examples of how we empower children to participate in shaping their environment.
We’ve recently undertaken several initiatives to further enhance our service, such as offering free Lámh classes for parents and guardians, Stay and Play sessions, and our exciting Grab & Go Station for busy families. Additionally, we’re thrilled to have won an Amber Flag for promoting mental health and wellbeing, which reflects our ongoing commitment to the emotional and social wellbeing of everyone at First Steps.
